Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is the form of vitamin D that our skin synthesizes from cholesterol when exposed to the sun. The amount of vitamin D3 production depends on the climate, the amount of direct sunlight, the amount of skin pigment and age. Vitamin D3 is essential for normal bone formation and promotes the absorption of calcium from food, increasing the amount of calcium stored in the body.

Vitamin D3 also increases the deposition of minerals in the bones and teeth.
